ATV STOLEN FROM MID VALLEY EQUIPMENT CO.

       On Thursday night, April 7, about 8:45pm, two men tore apart the perimeter fence of Mid Valley Equipment, 3209 W. Expressway 83, entered the compound, and stole a Polaris ATV 4-wheeler. The model number of the ATV is 500 and the color, red. The ATV is valued at $3,500.

Burglary of AAA Gold & Silver Exchange

     Burglars broke the glass of the front door of AAA Gold & Silver Exchange, 164 S. Texas Blvd., early Wednesday morning, March 16, at about 12:55. The burglars entered the store, quickly scooping up a variety of merchandise, including an Acer laptop, Ryobi sawzall, Sony PSP, Nintendo DS, video games, and over 15 wrist watches of various brands.

Stripes on Sugar Cane Robbed
February 25, 2011

     Early Friday morning, February 25, the Stripes convenience store, located at Sugar Cane Road and FM1015, was held up. At 1:10am, the male clerk on duty was confronted by a man who demanded all the money. The clerk turned over what he had in the register. The man appeared to have a gun under his shirt;  however, no weapon was actually seen.The man fled north on FM1015 with cash and an unpaid for candy bar.
            The robber is described as in his 40`s, about 5 feet, 7 inches, 230 pounds, with  black hair. He wore a pullover black hoodie with "TEXAS" and the Texas longhorn symbol in bright orange on it.
      The man drove off in a black Dodge Durango.

ATT Cell Site Struck by Thieves
February 17, 2011

     The ATT cell phone site, located on North Border behind McCoy`s, was hit by copper thieves between February 1-10. These thieves cut wiring and removed 2 circuit bus boards worth thousands of dollars. In addition to the theft, the suspects caused significant damage to the electronic equipment.

WISD Maintenance Complex Pillaged
February 04, 2011

      During the weekend beginning January 28, several criminals broke through the fence of the school district`s bus and maintenance facility (2200 E. Sugar Cane) and stole a truck and various pieces of equipmemt.
     The truck was a 1995 Chevrolet 3500 dually with "exempt" license plates: 854777. Other items taken were 2 welders (acetylene & oxygen) with tips, hoses, and leads. In addition, a sewer cleaning machine was stolen, along with 3 ladders (various lengths), 2-100ft extension cords, 5-gallons of tar, a water jug, and a pick ax. In all, almost $3,000 worth of equipment was stolen.

Robbery at Stripes-Sugar Cane
January 31, 2011

      The Stripes convenience store, located at 2455 N. International, was robbed early Wednesday morning, January 26. At about 12:25am, a lone male walked into the store, grabbed the clerk, pulled her to the check out counter, and demanded "everthing you have."  He took several cartons of cigarettes and 2 18-packs of Budweiser beer.
           The man fled by way of the back door. There was no weapon displayed. The suspect is described as a Hispanic, wearing a ski mask.

Vehicle Burglary on South Illinois

     Weslaco Police are investigating a major vehicle burglary that occurred in the 700 block of South Illinois, the night of January 12. Someone broke a rear door window of a Ford E350 work van and stole a large amount of equipment.
      Taken were several tool bags that contained mainly electrical equipment. The following are only some of the items: Fluke Pro 3000 tone and probe kit; a Sperry Instruments wire tracker; a Zircon i520 multiscanner; and a TFT 5.6" LCD  color monitor-Model EN220/N. Other tools and tool sets taken were the following brands: DeWalt, Black & Decker, Ridgid, Klein, Ryobi, Bosch, Husky, and Craftsman.

Man Shot & Killed at Ramosville

     Ernesto Ramos, the man that was hit by gunfire in the area of Westgate Drive and Ramos Drive, died from his wounds on January 3, 2011.
      At about 9:35pm, on Thursday, December 30, police received several reports of shots fired in the area of the 3200 block South Westgate. Officers arriving at the scene found a man, Ernesto Ramos, age 33, with a gunshot to the head.
     Weslaco EMS rushed Ramos to Knapp Hospital, where he was admitted and put on life support but later passed away.
     Police are looking for several suspects who were riding in a Ford Explorer Sports Trac vehicle, possibly blue in color. The license plate lights on the rear were yellow, rather than white, as is customary.

Hit & Run Vehicle Kills Man
December 24, 2010

     On Christmas Eve, at about 6:45pm, a man, walking along the roadway near the 3200 block of North Westgate, was struck and killed by a vehicle. The victim was identified as Jose Juan Gonzalez, age 42. The pickup truck that hit him kept going south, turning west on Mile 9.
     The truck was dark-colored, possibly blue. A witness reported that the license plate had the numbers "107" or "109" as part of the larger number. Also, the truck`s right taillight was not working.
