Payne Collision Center Burglarized

Payne Collision Center, located at 727 East Business 83, was burglarized Sunday, October 4. Sometime around 9pm, a man broke through the roof of the business, let accomplices inside, and they made off with equipment.
     The stolen equipment included paint spray guns, sanders, and buffers. Also, a welder with cutting torch was taken. In addition, these burglars stole a customer`s truck that was in for repair. It is a 2008 Ford F150 4 X 2 supercrew pickup, white in color. The truck had Texas plates 27VYF7. At least 4 males participated in the burglary and motor vehicle theft.

BURGLARY AT SHAWNEE VILLAGE
August 26, 2009

Two recent burglaries at Shawnee Village subdivision on Weslaco`s extreme west side, off Midway Road, are keeping the residents there on their toes. In a break-in on August 21, at a home on Wild Turkey Drive, two burglars kicked in the front door while the resident was inside asleep. But he woke up and ran them off with a baseball bat. These two burglars were from 17-19 years of age, and drove off in a dark purple Dodge Stratus. In a more recent burglary, on August 26, 5 men wee seen by a witness, running from another residence on the same street. They got away with a Sony HDTV, a laptop computer, and jewelry. On the night of Monday, August 24, burglars broke into 7 cars at Weslaco Credit Cars, located at 1300 East Business 83. In most cases, they broke car windows to enter and stole the cars` CD stereos. Stripes on Sugar Cane Robbed
August 20, 2009

The Stripes convenience store, located at FM1015 and Mile 9N, was robbed early morning, July 20. A man walked in, displayed a handun, and demanded money. He got  a small amount of cash. As he made his escape, driving west on Sugar Cane, an alert Weslaco PD patrol officer turned around on the suspect pickup, and the chase was on. When the suspect fired shots at the officer, he returned fire. No one was hit. The chase ended in Donna when the suspect decided to take his chances on foot. Even with several different law enforcement agencies scouring the area, the man got away. The suspect is a Hispanic male, age 20-25, 5 feet, 6 inches, about 135 pounds, short black hair. Springwood Estates Assault
August 19, 2009

  An employee for Springwood Estates subdivision, located in southeast Weslaco on Mile 5 1/2 North, was assaulted and robbed on Sunday morning, July 19. Two men came to the sales office on Nellie Street, asked for a drink of water, and forced their way inside. One man cut the employee with a machete, and they stole a television set, a small amount of cash, a cell phone, and set of keys. The victim was seriously enough injured to be transported to the hospital. One suspect was about 23 years of age, with long hair, thin, and a light complexion. The other suspect was about 33 years of age, had short hair, a dark complexion, and was described as "ugly." Both men spoke only Spanish. CIRO'S ROBBED
August 15, 2009

Ciro`s Restaurant, 1504 W. Pike, was robbed at gunpoint by two masked men just after midnight, Saturday, August 15. Sneaking in through the back door, the two men threatened the manager and another employee and demanded the money. The men are thought to be about 20 years of age. One was about 5 feet, 5 inches; the other 5 feet, 7 inches. One wore a green bandanna over his face, while the other had a red bandanna. No one was injured in the robbery. Parks Vehicle Burglaries

A series of vehicle burglaries has occurred at Weslaco parks in July. Of the 5 burglaries, a window in each case was broken to gain entry into the vehicle. The two parks targeted are Weslaco City Park and Harlon Block Sports Complex. Items taken include ladies` purses and portable electronic devices, such as laptop computers and digital cameras. All these have occurred between 7am and 8:30am, usually while the car owners are exercising. One suspect vehicle is an older model yellow Volkswagen. Travis Street Burglary

Burglars forced the back door of a house in the 2900 block of Travis Street and stole a large number of expensive items. The breakin occurred on Thursday, July 2, between 1:15pm and 4:30pm. Among the items stolen were a 50" Sanyo HDTV, a small Vizio TV set, 2-laptop computers (HP and Dell), a large amount of jewelry, and other possessions. Witnesses reported seeing a gray sport utility vehicle (possibly a Toyota) and a newer blue/gray pickup at the home. Plant Thefts at Church

A local church, Templo Eben-Ezer, 209 E Sugar Cane, has recently been plagued by thefts of plants. On the night of May 31, someone stole 3 palm trees from the parking lot. One was from a large pot, and the other 2 were dug up from the ground. About a week later, early Saturday morning, June 6, video surveillance at the church revealed several males, digging up other palms and placing them in a pickup truck bed. That truck is a dark-colored late 1980`s Chevrolet or GMC with extended cab. Felony Theft at Tierra Santa

From the grounds of Tierra Santa Golf Club, someone helped himself to a trailer with lawn equipment on it. Sometime between Monday, June 8, 3pm, and June 9, 8:30am, an aluminum golf trailer with a Murray lawn tractor (red/black) and a push mower were stolen. The items were left outside unsecured.
