Weslaco Police are investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred on May 12. Five men forced their way into a home on Santa Maria Street, roughing up 2 family members and stealing only an HP laptop computer. Three suspects are in their mid-20`s, with the ringleader appearing to in his mid-30`s. A fifth man was short and thin, standing only 4ft, 8in and weighing about 120 pounds. Four men carried handguns; the leader brandished a shotgun. They drove away in a vehicle with a loud muffler. Call Weslaco Crime Stoppers with your tip.
Robbery at Bell Finance
April 28, 2008
On Monday, April 28, at about 5:50pm, a lone male robbed Bell Finance, located at 617 S. Texas Blvd.
Posing as a customer, the suspect pulled a knife and demanded money from both female clerks working at the time.
The robber is described as being 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches, 185 pounds. He had a mustache. He wore a dark blue shirt, khaki shorts, and a white cap. No vehicle was seen.

Theft of Copper Valves at Villas Santas

In a new subdivision, named Villas Santas, located just north of Tierra Santa, between Westgate Drive and Border Avenue, copper thieves struck. Sometime between April 14 and 22, one or more persons broke off copper water valves from pipes in this new unoccupied subdivision. These lazy, parasitic, good-for- nothing thieves took about 50 of the valves, valued at $1,200. If you saw any suspicious activity at the subdivision, leave a tip for Weslaco Crime Stoppers.
Friends Forever???

Someone tried to steal 2 vehicles from Friends Forever Adult Day Care, located at 201 Water Plant Road. The attempt was made during the weekend of April 19-20. Perpetrators entered a GMC Safari van and a Ford F150 pickup, breaking their steering columns and ignitions. But alas! The thieves were unsuccessful. Burglars Strike South Westgate

Burglars forced open a door at a home located at the corner of Westgate & 3rd Street. Once inside, they took a 50-inch Samsung plasma television, a Blue Ray DVR, a Nintendo system, and a Hilti saw-saw. A suspicious gray Buick Le Sabre was seen in the area. Heavy Duty Theft at Mid Valley Pond

During the weekend of April 12-14, thieves entered the grounds of Mid Valley Garden & Pond, 1800 East Business 83, up to no good. These individuals took 6 concrete statues and one (1) birdbath. Theft of AC at New Public Facilities Building

Sometime during the weekend, ending April 7, 2008, thieves entered the property of the new public facilites building, 1912 Joe Stephens (old Torres-Espino) and stole an installed air conditioning unit. Taken was a Trane outside condenser and the inside unit that accompanies it. Total loss is reported to be $10,000. The outside unit is green. If you know anyone that has tried to sell such a large AC unit, give Crime Stoppers a call.
Burglary at WHS Fieldhouse

The Weslaco High School varsity football field house was burglarized sometime between Wednesday, March 19 and 20. There was no forced entry to the building. Stolen were 3 Weslaco Panther purple football helmets. Also, the burglars used a black marker to write derogatory phrases on walls, papers, and equipment. If you know where these Panther helmets are or who vandalized the facility, call Crime Stoppers and earn a generous reward.
Burglary at Memorial Elementary

At about 1:45AM, on March 20, 2008, someone broke the glass out of a door on the west side of Memorial Elementary, 1700 S Border Ave. At the time of the burglary, it was unknown what was taken. If you have any information about this crime, give Crime Stoppers a call.
Burglary at Mary Hoge Academy

Shortly after midnight, March 20, 2008, someone broke the glass in a perimeter door on the northwest side of Mary Hoge School. Once inside, the burglars broke glass in several classroom doors and entered. Thought to be stolen are several television projectors.
