Zales-A Second Time

A burglar struck Zale`s Jewelry again on Tuesday, March 10, about 3:20 in the morning. The burglar broke the front glass in the store, entered, broke into a display case, and took several men`s wedding rings.
The previous burglary at Zale`s occurred on February 25.

Palm Plaza Businesses Burglarized
February 26, 2015
Two burglaries, within hours of each other, occurred at the Palm Plaza shopping center on February 25, 2015. The first burglary took place at Zale`s Jewelry on the west side of the plaza. A burglar broke the glass door and entered the building. He gathered up several Bulova watches and departed.
The second burglary occurred on the northeast side of the plaza at Weslaco Flea Market. The same burglar, or a different one, broke a south side window and entered. At this time, it is not known if anything was taken.
These burglaries were about 4 hours apart. If you were in the Palm Plaza area between February 25, 11:30pm, and February 26, 3:45am, and you saw suspicious persons or vehicles in the area , please share that information with Weslaco Crime Stoppers. After the burglaries, the burglar may have tried to sell the new watches. Keep an eye out for them.

Three Adjacent Businesses Burglarized

Sometime during the nighttime hours of Valentine`s Day, one or more burglars forced open the doors to three businesses at the corner of 4th Street and S. Missouri Avenue.
At 119 W. 4th, two stores, which are side by side, were entered and a number of items were taken. At D`Beauty, the intruder got away with a small amount of cash. At Centro de Nutricion, the same burglar took 3 boxes of energy supplements, a small amount of cash, and a purse.
The third victim, Rhino Services, 403 S. Missouri Ave., had damage to its door, but nothing appeared to be missing.

Dollar General-west Burglarized
January 29, 2015
Dollar General, located at 2111 W. Business 83, was broken into on Thursday, January 29, at about 12:40am. A lone male broke the glass in the front door, climbed inside, and went straight to the cash registers. Finding no money inside them, he exited the store. Although he did not get away with any money or merchandise, the glass had to be replaced.
Video surveillance reveals the suspect is a man in his 20s, 5`6" , 180 pounds, having short black hair and a light complexion. He was wearing a black shirt and pants, and shoes, which were red and black.

Vehicle Burglary Attempt
January 17, 2015
On Saturday, January 17, about 6p.m., a man attempted to break into a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, parked at San Martin Church. Although there is no description of the man, his getaway car is an older tan Mercury Grand Marquis.

Theft at Live Oak Nursery
January 14, 2015
A theft of a utility trailer, along with 5 juniper trees, occurred early Sunday morning, January 4, at about 5 a.m., at Live Oak Nursery, located at 2601 W. Business 83, in Weslaco. This is on the Southwest corner of US 83 Bus. Hwy. and Milano Rd.
Three men, traveling in what is believed to be a Chevrolet Tahoe or a GMC Yukon SUV, forced the lock on a fence gate, hooked up the nursery`s trailer to their vehicle, and loaded up the 5 juniper trees, then drove off. The light-colored vehicle was last seen in surveillance video, headed north from the compound with the trailer attached.

Murder on Expressway 83
December 02, 2014
Weslaco Police were called to the the scene of what was thought to be a major accident early Tuesday morning, December 2, at about 1:30a.m. Instead of an accident, they found that the driver of a gray Volkswagen Jetta had been shot, causing him to run off the roadway and strike a tree.
The victim, Daniel Salazar Burnias , age 30, was deceased from several gunshots to the head. Weslaco Police are looking for witnesses that saw the Jetta as it traveled east on the expressway and exited on the Mile 2 eastbound exit.

Burglaries on North Padre

Two burglaries were committed at houses located across the street from each other in the 600 block of North Padre. In both cases, the burglars kicked open the front door and stole TV sets and DVD players. These occurred on Tuesday, December 2, between 9 a.m. and 7:10 p.m. A witness reported seeing a silver colored car leaving one scene.

Burglary on Canyon Drive
December 01, 2014
A resident of Canyon Drive , in Westgate Village, reported a burglary on Monday, December 1, 2014. The homeowner said that a man she did not know knocked on her door, and when she did not answer, he kicked in her door. She hid and kept quiet while the man and his buddy stole her TV sets.
One TV is a Phillips 42 inch, and the second TV is a Hunday 32 inch. In addition, a DVD player was taken.
A neighbor reported that the getaway car was an older red car.

PIZZA HUT ROBBED

At about 10pm, Thursday night, September 18, two males entered the Pizza Hut, 623 West Business 83, Weslaco, and robbed employees and customers at gunpoint.
The men were both thin and wore black bandannas. They had at least one handgun betweeb them. After taking valuables from the people at the restaurant, the men fled out the back door. No vehicle was seen.
