Academy Theft
February 12, 2013

A pair of youthful shoplifters wheeled their shopping cart around Academy the night of January 26. After they had stocked it with goodies like baseballs, bats, and other sports equipment, they quietly pushed it to a corridor leading to an emergency exit. Grabbing as much loot as they could from the shopping cart, they ran for the door and out into the night with their booty.
Police think that  an accomplice driving a black car was waiting for them, and away they sped.

American Legion Burglary
February 06, 2013

A lowly, less than useless burglar broke into the American Legion
building at Bridge Ave. and 6th St. in Weslaco,
on the night of December 19. This person used his
"super" strength to pull out the entire south side window unit,
complete with burglar bars out of the side of the building.
While inside, the culprit damaged a juke box and a cash register,
to steal money he was not entitled to. Also, he made off with 2 high
definition  television sets and a few beers to celebrate with.
One TV is a Sanyo 50-inch; the other  is a Samsung 43-inch. He
probably sold these to unsuspecting friends of his. It is possible that
he resides close to the location of the burglary.
If you have any idea who committed this burglary against our
veterans, or if you have encountered the described TV sets, call Weslaco

Avon and Stinnett Burglaries
January 31, 2013

Two burglaries that occurred recently have interesting similarities.  One
of the two, at Avon Recruiting Center, in the Palm Plaza shopping center,
on January 18, had its glass door  broken. The burglar entered, taking a
13-inch TV set, some wrist watches, and cosmetics.
The other burglary, at Stinnett Jewelry, 308 S. Texas Blvd., occurred just before midnight, on Jan 21. An audible alarm sounding caught a patrol
officer`s attention. He discovered a broken glass front door. An unknown
amount of jewelry was stolen from two display cases.
The similarity in these two burglaries is that previous to each burglary,
a suspicious man had entered both stores, interested in specific merchandise.
That man is described as about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, thin, about 20 years
old, and having a dark complexion. One description had the
 man wearing a black hoodie.
